This is the motel I spent night 5 in Roanoke, Virginia
The Blue Ridge Parkway turns into the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. It is 103 Miles long, the highest elevation is 3650 feet. It's constuction started in 1931 and was conpleted in 1939 at a cost of 50,000 per mile.

This is Don and Joy's home in Herndon, Virginia. Herndon is about 30 miles west of Washington D.C. Joy was a classmate of Debbie's in grade and high school. Don works at the Pentagon. Friday I plan on taking a tour of his work. I will be staying here until Monday the 28th.I have all my pictures hosted here. Hope you can access this link.

Your trip is making me very homesick! Now you can see why moving from PA to CA was such a culture shock! I miss the open yards and wonderful views. Enjoy your trip and keep those pictures coming. Be safe & hurry back! Debbie is a handful at the office without you at home! :-)

I LOVE your blog and the pictures. Gus and I hiked and drove the Blue Ridge Mts and Skyline Drive a couple years ago- just gorgeous. Don't forget to go to Arlington National Cemetary. The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is really moving. On Monday there will be speeches and a program; we saw Bush speak a couple years ago, and I think Schwarzkopf too. We almost didn't go because it was raining, but we were really glad we did. We've been to Gettysburg too- and it's a great side trip for your way home. If you happen to go through Iowa, stop in Ft. Madison and tell my dad hi. He'll fix you dinner.

Hey lumpster, looks like a great time. Great pics. Just remember, the more miles you add, the less I pay, I'm thinking around 8k by the time you get home. Keep up the great pics and watch your back.
